So, it's been a while... Sorry about that...

I just decided about ten seconds ago that I'm going to start selling some of my paintings on Etsy. I actually made the Etsy shop for my paintings on March 19th, 2013 (according to my account; I didn't actually keep track), but I haven't really had the time or enough paintings until recently. I still don't technically have the time or the paintings since I have less then a week of classes before my final exams. I also have a crap-ton of work to do, but I have the inclination for Etsy at the moment.

I have a couple paintings ready to go, and since I'm going to school in the fall, some extra cash would be awesome. I'll be attending an art program and I'll have some painting classes, so there will be plenty more when that rolls around.

In the meantime, I'll be working a full time job during the summer to earn money for food and supplies in the fall (the school I'm going to doesn't have meal plans).

I'm thinking about making another blog and posting there every time I have a new item for Etsy. This may not be the best idea, seeing as I can't seem to keep up with the two I already have, but we'll see.

Here's the first painting I'll be posting:

It's an 8"X10" oil painting of a sunset. If you're interested in it, you can contact me or wait for it to be posted on Etsy.

Have a lovely day!

6 Ways to Make the Most of Your Lipstick

I don't know about you, but I have a number of brightly coloured lipsticks. Since I'm still in high school I rarely have the opportunity to wear them out. There are several ways to wear a bright lipstick besides the standard swiping it across the lips and running out the door. By the way, please excuse the horrendous condition of my nails.

The lipstick I'm demonstrating with is Revlon Moon Drops lipstick in the colour 702 Blase Apricot and it's a crème finish. This particular lipstick looks best over recently exfoliated lips, as it goes accentuate flakes.

1. Sheer layer over the lips.

Either tap the lipstick on and rub it in with your clean ring finger, or put the lipstick directly on your ring finger and rub it into your lips. You can also put it over a lip balm for a slightly glossier, more comfortable feeling.

2. Traditional application.

A layer all over the lips either straight from the bullet or with a lip brush. Whatever you prefer.

3. Blot for a satin finish.

If you blot the lips after the initial application, it will leave the colour but take away the shine. This done with a coffee filter is preferable as they're designed to not leave lint behind, which facial tissues are more prone to doing.

If you do this step and reapply your lipstick afterwards it will make the colour last longer.

4. Matte-ify.

Place HD/Silica powder over the top of the lipstick with a brush or your finger after you blot to matte-ify it and help it last a lot longer.

5. Place a clear or coloured lip gloss over top.

If you place a clear or similarly coloured lip gloss over top of the lipstick, it will obviously give it a shinier finish. If you place a lip gloss that's a different colour over top, it will change the colour slightly as well as making it shinier.

6. Place over a different coloured lip liner.

If you line and fill in your lips with a lip liner of a different colour and layer the lipstick over top, the two will mix and change the colour's outcome.

You can literally do any of these with any lipstick, even more neutral ones. Here are some other shades I suggest you try it out with:

I hope you found this helpful and try some of these out. Let me know your thoughts and whether or not you'd like to see more posts like this in the future.

Blogger Update

I've been thinking a lot recently about my blog and what kinds of things I've been posting. Since I want my career to be in makeup, I don't think I should be posting things like 'Johnlock' or the Moving Episodes.

That's why two days ago I create a second blog for that stuff. It's called Kenzie's Day off and the link for it is in the tabs above. It's the one that says "My Nerdy Blog" and it's located between "My Friends' Blogs" and "My YouTube Channel".

Right now I'm working on transferring all the non-beauty posts from here to there. I'm posting a few a day so as not to bombard you with them all at once. Also, I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the non-beauty posts up here. Thoughts? I also made a Facebook page for it and the link for it is it the tabs there.

So in short, this blog will be nothing but beauty and Kenzie's Day Off with have all geeky, life-related stuff.

I hope you like this change and you check out the new blog. As always, let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Have a stupendous day!

Sephora and TBS Shop n' Share

I was going to go see The Hobbit today, but sadly the 11:00 am show was sold out and one ticket was almost as much as a DVD. Needless to say we went shopping instead. I went to my usual destinations, Sephora and The Body Shop.

I had a goal when I went to Sephora; I needed to get a new foundation. I'd had my eye on Urban Decay Naked Skin since I saw xsparkage's video on it

Company: Urban Decay

Colour/Shade/Product Number/Name: Naked Skin Foundation in 0.5

Price: $45 CAD

I also wanted to get another one of the Sephora Long Lasting liquid eyeliners in Black because I suspect mine is running low. While I was in there I got another one in Dark Brown.

Company: Sephora

Colour/Shade/Product Number/Name: Long-lasting eyeliner in 01 Black

Price: $15 CAD

Company: Sephora

Colour/Shade/Product Number/Name: Long-lasting eyeliner in 06 Dark Brown

Price: $15 CAD

I strolled on over to The Body Shop and all of their Holiday items were on sale, so I picked up a bunch. In fact, on one of the items I bought wasn't on sale.

The first product I grabbed was a set of 5 Born Lippy lip balms/glosses. They bring them back for the holidays every year and they're regularly $15 CAD, but it was half off and it was the only one left that I saw.

Company: The Body Shop

Colour/Shade/Product Number/Name: Born Lippy Gift Set (Strawberry, Passionberry, Watermelon, Raspberry, Satsuma Shimmer)

Price: $7.50 CAD (Regularly $15 CAD)

I was running low in faoming cleanser and I've been wanting to try this one (the only item I paid full price for):

Company: The Body Shop

Colour/Shade/Product Number/Name: Aloe Gentle Facial Wash

Price: $16 CAD

I saw this eyeshadow palette they had for the holidays. It was significantly discounted.

Company: The Body Shop

Colour/Shade/Product Number/Name: 4-Step Smoky Eyes 4 Colour Eye Palette in Smokey Copper

Price: $10 CAD (Regularly $28 CAD)

Company: The Body Shop

Colour/Shade/Product Number/Name: Slanted Kabuki Brush

Price: $10 CAD (Regularly $28 CAD)

I saw the Toffee Born Lippy lip balm stick on sale. It was on sale and I like the scent, so I bought it. (Seriously though, it smells so much like caramel I want to eat it, but it doesn't have much of a taste.)

Company: The Body Shop

Colour/Shade/Product Number/Name: Born Lippy Toffee Lip Balm

Price: $3 CAD (Regularly $6 CAD)

I fell in love with the eyeliner when I swatched it. I don't doubt that I'll have to set it with eyeshadow, though.

Company: The Body Shop

Colour/Shade/Product Number/Name: Eye Definer in 15 Copper Brown

Price: $5 CAD (Regularly $11.50 CAD)

I also go a free sample of their Shea Body Butter, even though I already have it.

Here are some swatches:

UD Naked Skin Foundation, Sephora Liquid Liner in Dark Brown, Sephora Liquid Liner in Black.

Born Lippy Toffee Lib Balm

Eyeshadow Quad shades lightest to darkest, Copper Brown Eyeliner Pencil.

I hope you liked this. Let me know your thoughts on the post and on the products in the comments and let me know if you pick any of these up (while you still can!).

Have a spectacular day!

Thursday, January 3, 2013

I realise I may stir up some controversy over this post. If you don't know what Johnlock is, it's basically just the idea that John Watson and Sherlock Holmes are a couple. I recently decided that I do, in fact, ship Johnlock even though I want Sherlock all to myself. I hope you're okay with that; if you're not, oh well. Here are some Johnlock pictures I think you might enjoy. By the way, I did get a lot of these pictures from a page on Facebook called The problem with sherlock is. . . Nothing IT'S Perfect

WARNING!!! Spoilers ahead! If you haven't seen up to Season 2 Episode 3, you may not want to read through this post. Just a heads up.

This makes me want to cry!

You can make your own version of this if you click here.

Breaks my heart </3

:3 <3

I didn't get it till I looked the second time. Eheheheheh!!!!

I need this.

Aww... </3

John Watson! I will END you!

30 minutes later...

"... And I owe you so much." </3

Eheheh :3

Awww!!! <3 <3 <3

Someone very talented painted this, I'm nearly certain.

This makes me wanna cry!

So does this.

It says:

"Even though I know that it's absurd, sometimes I like to pretend that I can still smell you on the clothes you wore..."

"... and that you're still here with me."

"... Caring is not an advantage."

There's nothing I can do... a total eclipse of the heart </3

Sh... Sher-Sherlock...?

This one's probably my favourite <3

I hope you enjoyed this. I kept it as PG rated as possible. Have an intriguing day.
